I think of each cognitive function for the INTP as a battery that can be utilized and also needs recharging. Each battery affects the other batteries and also batteries can be overheated if not used or unplugged. In this episode I go over a leverage point word for each cognitive function that help signal when an INTP needs recharging in each area and how this could even help an INTP get out of the darkest depressive depths.
Welcome back to Happy Chemicals! I'm your host, Christian Rivera. Today, we're diving into an intriguing topic: the energy usage and recharge mechanisms for each cognitive function, specifically through the lens of the INTP personality type.
In this episode, I'll be workshopping some ideas that have been percolating in my mind, inspired by the Personality Life Path Program from Personality Hacker. This program explores the archetypal energies of all eight cognitive functions and their impact on varying personality types. If you're unfamiliar with your cognitive functions as an INTP, check out my video series "Are You Really an INTP?" on YouTube or visit happychemicals.org to sign up for the free course that also covers shadow functions.
Imagine each cognitive function as a battery. As we go through our day, these batteries get used and need recharging. For INTPs, introverted thinking (Ti) is our dominant function and drains slower compared to others. However, when we rely heavily on our less dominant functions, like extroverted feeling (Fe), we can quickly deplete our energy reserves.
I'll discuss how each cognitive function has leverage points for both usage and recharge, and how balancing these can help manage burnout. For instance, while Ti may recharge by learning and absorbing new information, extroverted intuition (Ne) thrives on novelty and creativity, and introverted sensing (Si) finds comfort in familiar, evergreen experiences.
Join me as I share practical insights and personal anecdotes, including how managing these functions plays out in my own family dynamics with my ENFP wife, ESFP son, and ISTJ daughter. Learn how understanding and managing your cognitive functions can lead to better energy management and overall well-being.
